FIRST NATIONS, INUIT AND MÉTIS CANCER CONTROL PARTNERS GATHER IN CALGARY
On January 25 and 26, the Partnership hosted the First Nations, Inuit and Métis Cancer Control Forum in Calgary, Alberta. This national forum brought together partners, patients and communities working to advance improvements in the cancer experience of First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples across Canada. The theme of this year's gathering was “Celebrating Partnerships and Progress,” providing an opportunity for partners and stakeholders to showcase their work; share knowledge and experiences; strengthen relationships; and highlight collective accomplishments over the course of the Partnership's first and second mandates.

During the two-day event, the forum was covered by leading media outlets in Calgary including the Calgary Herald, Metro News Calgary and CBC News. The coverage featured Dr. Angeline Letendre, Lead Scientist at Alberta Cancer Prevention Legacy Fund and one of our key partners in this initiative.

THE PARTNERSHIP MARKS WORLD CANCER DAY 2017

On February 4, the Canadian Partnership Against Cancer joined cancer patients, survivors, caregivers, advocates, clinicians and others around the world in recognizing World Cancer Day.

The Partnership supported the Union for International Cancer Control's (UICC) global campaign to harness “support through sport” via social media and launched a shareable Facebook quiz to test your knowledge of cancer facts. Several Canadian landmarks were also lit in orange and blue on February 4 to recognize World Cancer Day.

World Cancer Day is coordinated by the UICC and is supported internationally by the world's major cancer societies, ministries of health, research institutes, treatment centres and patient groups.
