You are invited: a Community Forum on cancer research
Spend an afternoon learning about cancer research in Canada
Hear first-hand from Canadian researchers about achievements in cancer research in the areas of prevention, screening and treatment. A first-time event, the Canadian Cancer Research Conference Community Forum is a unique opportunity for members of the public to ask questions, engage in a discussion, and meet leading researchers.
The program is divided into two sections and will feature a series of short dynamic presentations by seven cancer experts. The first section examines research into common adult and pediatric cancers. The latter part explores major Canadian research projects and innovations that have potential to improve outcomes. The Community Forum will be taking place Sunday November 27th from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m.
The forum is organized by the Canadian Cancer Research Alliance, the Partnership's Research Advisory Group.

Cross-country collaboration to benefit women with ovarian cancer
Partnership teams up with Terry Fox Research Institute to support research with potential for immediate impact
The Partnership and the Terry Fox Research Institute are jointly funding a new research project with the long-term goal of increasing survival of ovarian cancer, the fifth-leading cause of all female cancer-related deaths in Canada.¹
With participation from hospitals, universities and research institutions in five provinces, as well as support from eight biobanks, patient groups and the Society of Gynecologic Oncologists, the five-year, $5-million study focuses on identifying new ovarian cancer biomarkers - molecules found in blood or tissue that are a sign of a condition or disease. The research team's work will better identify each patient's particular tumor type and the treatment her tumor will respond to best. When validated, these biomarkers will be used to identify patients who do not respond to standard therapy and can be directed to clinical trials where new therapies are being validated.

Helping young adult cancer survivors navigate their journey
New web-based planning tool a first of its kind for young adult cancer survivors
Teens and young adults facing a cancer diagnosis have unique needs, challenges and questions. When treatment is finished, young cancer survivors may continue to have concerns about telling new friends and employers about their illness. They may also be dealing with long-term effects of treatment, such as fertility changes, as they start to build their lives.
To support young cancer survivors, Young Adult Cancer Canada, with support from the Partnership, has developed Goaltender, a new online care-planning tool. Goaltender offers an innovative way to help young adult cancer survivors manage their own care after treatment with post-cancer plans, online planning tools and a social media function to help users connect with other cancer survivors across the country.
