Partnership makes a difference
New report showcases Partnership’s impact on cancer control

Impact means making a difference, having a demonstrable effect. With a large-scale population-wide health challenge as complex as controlling cancer, collectively we need to make significant headway on many fronts. We must address needs that range from catching cancer earlier and improving quality across the cancer system, to supporting patients through the cancer journey, driving innovative research and of course, improving disease prevention.

The Partnership’s recently published Impact Report 2010 highlights the Partnership’s critical work to date and demonstrates the positive impact of that work, regionally and nationally. Read more...


Cancer patients and survivors share The Truth of It
Compelling new video series launched on Cancer View Canada

The Canadian Partnership Against Cancer joined forces with Dr. Michael Evans of the Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute at St. Michael’s Hospital and filmmaker Wendy Rowland to create The Truth of It, an unscripted video series about cancer.

The series features 21 deeply personal interviews with a diverse group of people from across the country who have experienced a cancer diagnosis.

The series was showcased in late May at the 12th World Congress of Psycho-Oncology hosted by the International Psycho-Oncology Society (IPOS) and the Canadian Association of Psychosocial Oncology (CAPO) in Quebec City. Drs. Marg Fitch and Mike Evans and filmmaker Wendy Rowland led four workshops to gather input on how the series can be leveraged to support patients. Read more...


Working to halt the increase of skin cancer in Canada
New report explores economic impact of skin cancer and the power of prevention

According to the Canadian Cancer Society, skin cancer remains one of the most common and rapidly increasing cancers in Canada, for both incidence and mortality.

The Economic Burden of Skin Cancer in Canada: Current and Projected looks at the impact of melanoma and non-melanoma skin cancer and explores how a comprehensive skin cancer prevention program could reduce skin cancer cases and deaths, and the costs associated with the disease.

The report was sponsored by the National Skin Cancer Prevention Committee, a subcommittee of the Partnership’s Primary Prevention Action Group.
