Partnership-funded projects promote accessible high-quality palliative care for people with cancer
Care and support for dying cancer patients special focus of Canadian Cancer Society’s Canadian Cancer Statistics 2010 publication
Earlier this month, the Canadian Cancer Society released its annual cancer statistics, which included a special report on care and support for dying cancer patients. The Society highlighted that action is needed to ensure palliative care services are in place to meet the needs of patients now and in the future. Several initiatives underway at the Partnership are exploring ways of integrating palliative and end-of-life care into the cancer journey.

Findings from Inspiring Innovation in Service Delivery now available
Report captures the energy and dialogue of participants at Health Human Resources symposium
In January, attendees at the Partnership symposium Inspiring Innovation in Service Delivery: Optimizing the Cancer explored new ways to address the health human resource challenges facing the cancer control system. Now, a summary of findings from the symposium is available on the Partnership's website.
The symposium brought together a wide variety of healthcare professionals, from both within and external to the cancer control system, to learn from each other and to think collectively about overcoming these challenges and optimally employing the human resources available to deliver quality care.

Landmark strategy aims to coordinate research funding
Publication represents a commitment to more effective research investments
The Canadian Cancer Research Alliance has launched the Pan-Canadian Cancer Research Strategy, a plan for collaborative action by Canada's cancer research funders. The CCRA serves as the Research Advisory Group for the Canadian Partnership Against Cancer and their work, including the strategy, is funded by the Partnership.
The first of its kind for Canada, the strategy brings together the cancer research community to strengthen and coordinate research efforts across the country, maximize impact and accelerate discoveries so that fewer Canadians develop cancer - and more Canadians survive it.
